The Association of Clothing Technology Students (ACTS) participated this year at the University Student Council's Alternative Classroom Learning Experience (ACLE) where students are excused from their ordinary classes and are allowed to attend classes that are not part of their normal curriculum.

ACTS hosted a class entitle Look for Less. This was a styling class and crash course on deconstruction. An estimate of 50 students went to see our guest speakers Santi Obcena and Tracy Dizon from Project Runway Philippine Season 2.
Tracy discussed industry secrets on styling. She provided the students who attended with ways how to update their looks without having to spend on any expensive clothes. She gave the students with a virtual tour of the places where the students can source accessories and where materials for making accessories and vintage apparel may be bought.
Santi gave a demonstration on deconstruction. He discussed the theories involving design and the elements that guide the process of deconstruction. He converted several garments into new apparel so the students would have a better understanding of how deconstruction works. He also gave tips on where to source suppliers and where to look for the best materials for design and deconstruction.
The last part of the class was the opportunity for the attendees to do their own styling and deconstruction. The teams came up with fancy and fabulous creations. And finally, photographers took images of the final outputs of the alternative class.
We would like to invite you to our next scheduled alternative class next semester. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
You may see more of Santi and Tracy in this year's season of Project Runway Philippines. Catch them on their airdates, Wednesdays 10:00PM only at ETC.
